A round up of Linus quilts

As I move into a new year (and a new page in the Project Linus Tab at the top of my blog) I thought I'd show a round up of the tops I've made to send to Project Linus (or other charities, but mostly Linus) this year. I think there may actually be a few small ones which I didn't put in this list, but it's good enough. In reverse chronological order, as it's easier that way...  Many thanks to my local Project Linus Coordinator, Liz, and to the folks she finds to finish these tops off into finished quilts...

Last top for 2014

Yep, here's the last top I'll be showing in 2014 - of course, there will be more in 2015, as I continue to make my way through the accumulated blocks and tops I have, and of course, make new blocks & tops. Most of which will, as seems to be the case for the past few years, go to Project Linus. There will be a few baby quilts for friends, I'm sure, and 5 or 6 quilts which I have longarmed for either myself or gifts. But the bulk will be fun, quick, scrappy tops, which get passed on to my local Linus coordinator for some other poor schmuck lovely volunteer to quilt up.

Block Lotto!

After several months of not playing in the block lotto for one reason or another (I think one month was an applique block, which I usually skip, but the others I was just SO BUSY) I finally have some time to make blocks - and I'm glad, as these are really easy, fun blocks. I made 8 of them, because that was how many I could easily find the right size scraps for, without digging into stash (ok, I confess, I only had scraps enough for 7, but I couldn't just make 7 - it would have annoyed me).  The brief was for a "very dark" background colour, with quilter's choice of fabric in the other section. I used up a small bit of dark brown fossil fern I had knocking about, some small scraps of solid black, and a little bit of a smallish piece of mottled black I had. Useful for the darks as well as the other bits!  This is a great scrappy block, and I'm considering making some more blocks in this pattern for stashbusting rather than just the lotto. I think it would look nice with a light background as well... One for the mental list of quick, easy, fun stash- & scrap- busters. Looking forward to another year of fun with the block lotto - if you've never played before, why not give it a go!

Olivia's quilt

Here's the rainbow quilt finished, bound and gifted. She likes it, even though it's not really her current taste. And I'm just glad it's finished!

Hand dyes and peacock feathers

Here's another top which has now had a border added to it - the border fabric is leftover from the backing of the quilt I gave Olivia for Christmas. Which reminds me, I don't think I showed that one after the binding was on!  Guess that's tomorrow's blog entry sorted, then...

ATC Friday

A few more finished round robin cards - both of these were ones I started, and both came out nicely, I thought.
